Founded in 2008 by master percussionist Sachintha De Silva, Beat Drummers is a 24-member percussion ensemble that has evolved from modest beginnings into an internationally acclaimed musical group. For nearly two decades, the ensemble has carried the pulse of Sri Lanka across global stages, captivating audiences with the power and energy of percussion.

What distinguishes Beat Drummers is their strong cultural foundation. Blending traditional Sri Lankan rhythms with contemporary drumming styles, the group has consistently pushed creative boundaries while preserving the essence of their heritage.

The group's defining breakthrough came in 2011, when they made their debut performance under the name Beat Drummers. Since then, they have performed at numerous high-profile events both locally and internationally, including the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, the World Percussion Festival in 2012, and the prestigious IIFA Awards.

Beyond performance, Sachintha De Silva's passion for drum-making has led him to design and create three distinctive types of drums, highlighting his role not only as a performer but also as a dedicated craftsman.

Their most ambitious production to date is set to take place on August 3 at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre, with an event titled "Bera Clinic." Designed as an interactive drumming experience, the show will see 1,500 darbaks distributed among the audience.
